I love the Harry Potter books but I don't read or get them right as they come out. I usually wait to read them right before the films come out so everything I've read will be fresh in my mind by the time I go to see it in the theaters.

And I don't read them in one sitting. Honestly, lol, I sometimes have problems paying attention so I get distracted easily and it would be impossible for me to concentrate and read the book all at once. It's kind of nice for me this way b/c I'll read it and the story will be great. Then once I get tired of reading or don't have time, I'll put the book down and go back to it later to read some more. It's always fun to read but no matter what book it is, Harry Potter or any other, I still get distracted from time to time, lol. But I can still read a whole lot in one sitting with these books b/c they're so good and fun to read. I do like that I don't read it all at once b/c then I still have stuff to look forward to when I have time to read it again.

So since Order of the Phoenix is out right now, I'm almost finished reading that book so I can go see the film this weekend. I don't have the new book yet. I'll probably have someone get it for me for Christmas so I don't have to pay for it.

Okay, this is an absolute evidence that the books must be so addictive! You've read them over 8 times each? How do the books look now? LOL For the movies it is really hard to compete with the books, I guess? But this is always the case... It is difficult to pack a plot of about 700 pages into a 2 hour movie!

OMG!! 8 TIMES EACH?!

I admire you for doing that b/c as good as the books are I can only read them once. I just don't find it interesting anymore to read a second time since I know what is going to happen. Once is enough for me, lol.

Maybe when I'm older I'll pull the books out again and read them, but I could never do it over and over when the story is still fresh in my mind.

Hehe!.. I can understand what you mean about it not being interesting to read a second time ... maybe I'm just sad and that's why I read the again & again ..LOL!
In my defense, I don't read them like every week or month, considering I've had the first book for over 8 years ,I space each time I read them out a bit. This mainly goes for the first 4 book though, I just blow things out of proportion with books 5 & 6 ... LOL

Yea,when you've read the books that many times, and then you go watch the movie, you can tell exactly what they've cut out.. but then again, the writers must have a real hard time trying to compact 700 pages into to 2 hours ,like you said .
For me personaly, the movies are nowhere near as good as the books.I mean dont get me wrong, they're still great , but nothing on the books.Maybe this is because I know the books so well and am disappointed that the movies aren't as detailed etc.

Ryan, 8 times! OMG, I love HP but don't know if I'll read them that many times.

Was reading HP1 recently (before 7 came out) looking for clues to the ending (to see if there were any at the start) and I was trying to figure what was left out of the movie and almost went to watch it cuz it is kinda running all together in my little brain.

btw, came over here for a break from my new Dan-Rad job, LOL

Ryan, you're my kind of guy. I've lost track of how many times I've read them, but I know I've read the first one at least 11 times. I got sort of obsessed with reading it over and over again when I first got it.

Anyway, if anyone's a bit disappointed in how much they cut from the OotP movie - apperantly they cut 45 (!) minutes from the theatrical version, so the DVD version will basically be 45 minutes longer. Well, the "special director's cut edition" or whatever they choose to call it.

^^ thats good about the pheonix film. They did cut rather a lot. However, they never filmed quidditch so that won't be put in.

Ryan I think I have read them about that amount too. OOTP less because it is my least fave but azkaban as it is my fave quite a few more times than 8!!!!

I saw Order of the Phoenix on IMAX and was quite disappointed that there was no Quidditch in the film, especially since Ron joined the team in that book. I always enjoy watching those scenes.

Yeah, well, you can't blame her for giving her hero her own birthday.
My friend Mikael had his birthday that day too, and I calculated that he was exactly 10 years younger than Harry Potter (seeing as he turned 18 on 1997 according to the books). I told him this and was really excited that he had such a cool birthday. He wasn't quite as excited as I was.

SH*T! I'm sure many of you have seen The Ring?

Well I watched it this evening and just recently after I got out of the shower, I received an UNKNOWN phone call on my cell phone. I didn't pick it up b/c I don't ever answer numbers that don't show themselves.

LOL, that's just really freaky b/c you're supposed to watch that little video in the movie then after it's over you receive a phone call saying "7 days" in a crazy voice.

Damn! I had this crazy coincidence happen to me before when I watched this movie. I bought it on vhs when it first came out and watched it during the day, lol. I was the only one home so right after it was over the phone rang within 5 seconds of the film ending. *$#@...

LOL, but it was just my mom. It's kind of crazy though.
