These photos are taken from Roanoke, Virginia, USA

I live 45 mtes. from Blacksburg, Virginia where the 33 students/teachers were killed the other day at Virginia Tech.

Roanoke is so beautiful...I especially like to go horseback riding in the Mts.

Rob...Wow! El Salvador is beautiful!

Galinab...so true: There's no place like home.

Kat...Wow!!!!!!!!! Those are beautiful photos. Are you a photographer? My husband does it for fun, mostly.

As for traveling: I've been very blessed to visit many states in the USA, and made short triips to Germany,
Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Paris, Austria, Lichtenstein, Grand Bahama Island, and twice to Hawaii. My favorites are the last two. I would love to go back to Germany and dream of visiting Australia.

Roanoke is very beautiful!

Also, I'm very sorry for what happened to those 32 innocent victims at Virginia Tech. One thing that caught my eye today when I was reading an article on the New York Times website, was that on the campus they set up a makeshift memorial where they had 33 stones in a circle. The 33rd one was for Cho, the gunman. There were even flowers layed on his stone and there was a maroon folded paper bird laying by the stone that had his name on it.

That just totally struck me and made me see how incredibly wonderful the people of Virginia Tech are. I'm glad Cho is dead because he deserved it, while the students and teachers he shot did not. What he did was sickening, but by adding a stone for him also (which I probably wouldn't have done myself) just shows how big of hearts Virginians have, no matter how angry they are at what happened. I know everyone will embrace their mourning and become stronger from it.

God Bless Virginia Tech!

If you don't mind me asking, did you know anyone that went to Virginia Tech?

LOL! Yeah I love it too! It took me a while to understand that it meant "Forget about it!" though! LOL! Is that the local slang? I love it!!!!

So, I spent some days in Rome at Easter and I'd love to share some pics my friends and I took there!

This is S. Peter's Square on Easter morning

S.Peter's Church

...and Rome seen from St. Peter's cupola (nearly 600 steps to reach the top! But we made it!)

The Forum, that is the ancient town

The Colosseum

Sight of the Colosseum and the Forum (...well and me...)

Trevi's Fountain by day

...and by night (beautiful!)

Spagna's Square (no tourists as you can see!) ...

...and the Barciaccia's Fountain at the feet of the stairs

^^ Rome looks great! I've only been there when I was little. I'd like to go back there someday! I was supposed to go on Easter holidays too but ended up not going.

Yeah that sign's hilarious. I've seen it before and laughed when I first heard they were putting signs up like that.

Very fitting.

JSRocks...I know many people who graduated from VA Tech. and some who go there now, but none that died. We need to continue to pray for all of the families.

In the movie DONNIE BRASCO, Donnie (Johnny Depp) and Al Pacino's character always said "fuhgeddaboudit"...great movie, but very rough language and violence. (True story, by the way).

I went to Italy with my daughters and others from their School the week before Easter in 2003. No Way would I get tangled in all the crowd of people on Easter Sunday.

Galinab123...Which Island did you like better? St. Thomas or St. Maarten? (We don't do nightclubs). Some pics reminded me of Grand Bahama Islands.

Whoever wanted to come to NY to live...it's a nice place to visit, but I sure wouldn't want to live there. (I'm a country girl, though). I do live 5 mtes. from a mall. You're just never far from the Mts.

I should imagine there's loads of people who love living in New York, just like there's loads who like living in London (my sister being one of them). Some people are made for city life and some only like the country. It takes all sorts.

Sonia, Rome looks absolutely wonderful, all that history,!! and you are very pretty

Oh yes, it is local slang. All of Brooklyn speaks it. This particular phrase has Italian roots.("Sopranos" anyone?)

I'm really sorry for what happend at Virginia Tech, I saw Cho's video on the news the other day and I was speechless...so much anger, hatred and violence...really don't know what to say, only pray that this kind of things may never happen again...

Oh thanks Dottie It's very kind of you (actually with my stars&stripes bunny t-shirt I hoped to look more like an American tourist rather than Italian! Unfortunately very few english speaking people approached me! I hoped to speak some English! Sorry, I love this language can't help it!)

@ galinab: Sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand how that phrase ha Italian origins. It's really interesting

Sonia you can find the answer here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sopranos Fuhgeddaboudit is Tony Soprano's catchphrase.

It's kind of the way Italian Americans speak. Or at least our impression of how they speak.

I love love LOVE the city! I just always need to be around locations and people. It's more exciting for me to live in a city or very close to one. I'm one of those who would never survive in the country.

The whole world will continue to pray for the victims and their families! We're all Hokies now!

I recently graduated from Ohio State and today was our spring football game. Our coach, Jim Tressel is friends with the coach at Virginia Tech and Tressel asked the coach at VT if it would be alright if we wore the VT logo on our helmets during the spring game to honor the school. It's little things like that, that show how loved everyone is at VT and how much we're all thinking about everyone there.

I am sorry if I offended anyone...sometimes I "speak" before I think. Of course everyone is different-that's what makes life interesting! Am I the only one who can't remember where everyone is from? Every once in-a-while, could you guys start your post with where you're from?
