You didn't offend me. I never thought what you said was offensive at all. I know some people who say they would never want to live in a place like New York b/c they feel it is just a place to visit, but when I'm there I feel at home and so comfortable in the city. I live close to Columbus, Ohio and lived there when I went to college so even though it obviously isn't as large as Manhattan, it was still a busy city. I love that!

I would also love to live in Washington DC. I love it there too and it helps that I studied politics in school.

I am sorry if I offended anyone...sometimes I "speak" before I think. Of course everyone is different-that's what makes life interesting! Am I the only one who can't remember where everyone is from? Every once in-a-while, could you guys start your post with where you're from?

I'm sorry, atalley, I hope you didn't think I was getting at you. I sometimes speak as well before the brain gets into gear, I was just making an observation. Personally, I wouldn't live in London again, I did years ago, (my sister still does, and wouldn't live anywhere else) like you say, nice for a visit
I live in Hampshire myself, in a town (Basingstoke) but not that far from the countryside and lots of cute little villages.

If anyone in the USA got the Parade in the Newspaper today, the cover shot was taken at McAffee's Knob, Virginia. It's about 20 mtes. from Roanoke, and is a really nice hike for people who are up to it. (I can't do much hiking anymore having broken my ankle 4 times).

Also, Dottie...I would love to visit the England countryside someday. Can you post some photos of your area?

Also, do we have any members from Scotland or Ireland? I would love too visit them too, but I'm not holding my breath. It's so expensive.

Here's the view from our seats at the White Sox game today:

If you want to see me as we headed out to the game, you have to go to the Random pictures of yourself thread. LOL

LOL! I know I came here right from there I like this "treasure hunt" idea Thanks for the pics

Here are some pics I took last week at "Cinque Terre", it's a place not far from my town, where you have a long walk through 5 small villages on the sea...it's really picturesque, I've loved it

This is a place where lovers and friends make promises and leave colored ribbons or padlocks there as a sign they will keep them forever

SonJekA...Where is Cinque Terre? It's so beautiful! Also, are you small too? I'm barely 5' tall. (I'm Anita from Virginia, USA).

So wait, Rich, are you a Cubs fan or a White Sox fan? I thought you couldn't be both in Chicago.

Kind of like how you can't be a Yankee fan and a Mets fan at the same time.

I know you are not supposed to be both cuz north siders have to be Cubs fans but I got to go to a White Sox World Series which may never happen on the North Side.

Here are a couple of maps

The Region where I live is called Liguria, my hometown is Genova (Genoa in English ): the coast (a.k.a. "Riviera") hosts beautiful places and landscapes, and Cinque Terre (the translation would be Five Lands ) are 5 small old fishermen villages: I had never been there before it's pretty embarassing to say, considering it's just 2 hourse by train and I'm 25!!!

P.S. Hi Anita, Glad to know you! I'm Sonia from Italy (I guess it's pretty clear now ), yeah, I'm quite small, I'm 1.63 m. , sorry I don't know US measures

Damn! The U.S. is nice but it's not nearly as beautiful as other countries like Italy.

It's really true we're never happy with what we have I love Italy, I know it has so many beautiful places to visit and I'd love to have time and money to do it, but, especially in this right moment of my life, I'd love to come to the USA 'cause I think they're amazing and fascinating!!

But there are so many other places I'd like to see, so keep posting your pics and let me travel this way

The U.S. has a lot of stuff but the scenery in European countries, especially, and the classical architechture used in the cities and towns are not something you see in the U.S. It's just very beautiful to look at and admire.
