Gosh I LOVE everyone's pictures!! Sadly I'm not posting any pics of where I live for there would only be pics of neverending corn fields. Northern indiana is sooo NOT exciting, no bustling big cities, exciting nightlife, or even scenery. I live in one of thee most boring, flattest states in the US.

I live in the historic city of Winchester in the county of Hampshire in the south of England, Winchester is the ancient capital of England.
Here are a few pics.

The huge King Alfred's Statue stands at the bottom of the town in the Broadway.....King Alfred the Great was King of Wessex from 871-899
The bronze statue was erected in 1901.

This magnificent bronze Statue, by Hamo Thornycroft, was commissioned by Alderman Bowker and the City Corporation to mark the millennium of Aelfred’s death. It was erected in 1901. It is 2.5 times life size, 15 feet (4.57 m) high, and weighs 5 tons. The base, in two parts, is of Cornish Granite, and the whole stands 40 ft high. The right hand grasps a cross-hilted sword, the symbol of Christianity which was to combat the power of heathenism. The left foot strides forward in a rather Pharonic gesture of Kingship and the subjugation of ones enemies. A Saxon helmet crowns the head, and the left hand rests lightly upon a Saxon circular shield. The cloak, thrown back over the right shouder, shelters the King and encourages the viewer to walk around the statue to view it face on. The granite pedestal bears just one word - AELFRED.

The famous English author Jane Austen lived in Winchester and is buried in the grounds of Winchester Cathredal.
Jane Austen's House, and plaque to her memory.

Winchester Cathredal.

The very ancient Buttercross. stands in the centre of the town since the early 14th century.

The Westgate, the 2nd of Winchesters 4 medieval gateways dating from the13th century.

King Aurthur's Round Table, is situated in the Great Hall, which is the remaining part of Winchester Castle built by William the Conqueror in 1067.

,

We also have many lovely shops, restaurants, pubs and parks

I love the architectual design of other countries. Nothing against the US... I'm from here ... but the US has pretty bland architecture compared to places like Europe and many other places.

Olivia...wow! That's really cool that there are so many relics that are that old. When we went to Germany we got to tour a lot of ancient castles. Italy was the same way...the ancient ruins right beside the Highways.

For anyone that's interested...there's a guy that goes by Mars on the Ennisjack Website. He has the most beautiful pictures of Italy, Alaska, and other places where he's been. He lives in Italy. I sure wish we could have seen some of the places where he lives!

You all live in gorgeous places!

I love my little city
Karlskrona is Sweden's only baroque city and is host to Sweden's only remaining naval base. The main square of Karlskrona is the biggest in Scandinavia, and actually the second biggest in Europe, after the Red Square of Moscow. Several islands are connected to the city only by ferries. Most of the baroque buildings from around 1750 are still standing, which makes the city centre architecturally uniform. Since the streets all follow a grid pattern the winds can blow freely from the ocean right into the heart of the city.

City Square and the statue of Carl the 11th

Fredricks church

Naval museum

Karlskrona's own special little ice cream "bakery". People stand in line for like an hour just to get a hold of one. They're delicious!

Isn't it amazing that we can interact with people all the way across the world. Also, it seems like everyone can speak English. The USA must be the only Country where you don't have to speak another language (although some do).
