Some news on the Moon Project

"It took roughly eight years from the time President John F. Kennedy announced that America would be entering the space race to the day that Neil Armstrong first stepped on the moon.

It may take that long until director Doug Liman gets to join him.

“I want to have a locked script before I start shooting. That’s my goal,” Liman recently told MTV News of the long gestating “Moon” project he’s been developing with Jake Gyllenhaal, which just recently picked up a new writer.

Which means it’s back to the drawing board, at least in part. But while Liman is keeping plot details a secret (they may change anyway), he’s certain the patriotic tone of the movie will remain consistent with his current vision.

“It’s a celebration of America. Even though it’s a present day story it’s a celebration of the fact that in 1969 we sent a man to the moon,” Liman enthused. “Just think about what a car in 1969 looked like! It’s insane that we pulled that off. No other country on the planet could have done something that great.”

Abbie Cornish is already dating Reese Witherspoon’s ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, but soon may also be spending a lot of time with Reese’s current squeeze, Jake Gyllenhaal.

An insider tells In Touch that producers on Jake’s next movie are considering Abbie as his leading lady. The sci-fi flick is about an expedition to the moon to start a lunar colony and is due out in 2010.

“This is one of those only-in-Hollywood situations,” the insider says. “It could work out as long as Reese doesn’t visit Jake on the set.”

If this is true, and they consider to take Abby Cornish as Jake's co-star, it wouldn't be right. Imagine for a moment how Jakey will feel towards Reese. Not that she has to be jealous of Abby. No way! Jake is a decent guy.
But it still would be awkward if they cast the woman who was responsible for Ryan and Reese's breakup, don't you think.

Ummmmmmmm.............I'd say RYAN was responsible as he was the one in the actual marriage. That said, why would anyone (Abbie) find someone who'd cheat on their wife to be desirable? What goes around, comes around. Someday when Ryan cheats on her, she'll understand her part in undermining their marriage. All that said, I can't imagine they'd actually cast Abbie for the role. Just too complicated and, yes, A W K W A R D!!!

Oops! Abbie Cornish.... right!

We talk about a next-year's project while 'Brothers' still has to be released around December.
I can hardly wait.

I'm in desperate need of some new Jake pictures now!

The original source was "In-Touch" - so it MUST be true..... I will believe it when see it.

Shootings will probably starting sometimes the next year.

I am not sure what to think about this film - it is an original script and they obviosly really want to realize it - thats a good sgin but on the other hand I don´t have much faith in Doug Liman as a director...

I think that Jake is one of the most level-headed and decent people in Hollywood (and probably everywhere else, too), so I don't feel that there will be any problems.

Your words gave me a warm feeling inside. Thank you!

Should this movie fail to have success.. it certainly won't be Jake's fault. I have doubts too. But let's not look too far ahead and be patient.

More action hero stuff? Oh, my. Jake is obviously trying to stretch his wings with many different kinds of roles. Still, I hope he doesn't go too far in this direction. There's so much more to him than that, even though these movies can be fun and entertaining. Look what they did for Harrison Ford and Johnny Depp, and Angelina Jolie.

It's rarely a good sign when there are troubles with the script.

It looks like Jake is not to be very lucky with his latest projects. (PoP seems to be the exception)

This is already the FOURTH writer - not a good sign.

Where is Jake-the-script-is-most-important-to-me-Gyllenhaal??

"Jake Gyllenhaal is inching closer and closer to action movie stardom..." - I hope not, I prefer actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who is interested playing challenging roles in interesting films.

I do too. He reaaly needs a good script. Like, NOW! People might bash me down, but I think there has been a real shift in his film choices since he's been with Reese and the kids. Nailed? PoP? Brother's is the only film I'm looking forward to.

I understand that actors get sort of stuck into doing big mainstream films, but I like Jake's more serious, indie roles Honestly, for me at least, nothing he'll ever do will top BBM, but I still love seeing what he'll do next. I liked Zodiac, and Rendition, and I hope Brothers will be a good drama.

The "UMP" has been removed from Jakes IMDB side.

At the moment I have to confess that I am relieved - I was never enthusiastic about this film and perhaps it gives Jake the time to working on another interesting project.
