I just can't wait to see this movie, Jim Sheridan did an amazing job with In America and In the name of the Father, he doesn't do a lot of movies but they kick ass

And well, Jake, Tobey, Natalie, three of my favorite actors, altogether for this amazing story... Made of awesome

Little Brothers related information about Jake:

Quote:
All wrapped: The big-name flick Brothers ended its filming with a party at the College of Santa Fe, where much of the movie was shot at the college's Garson Studios. Jake Gyllenhaal, one of the movie's three stars, stopped by the event. Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman, however, were no-shows.

found this!!!!!!!!!!!
Wade grabbed the attention of her female friends with her latest movie, "Brothers," featuring Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Gyllenhaal.

Initially, Wade's character, Tina, was involved in a drunken night of making out with Gyllenhaal's character at a bar, but the context changed, and when the film comes out in December, Tina is now a "smart girl with political views."

Wade still had fun with it and left messages with her female friends, asking "Guess who I just made out with?"

Natalie saying something about jake

Portman has just completed her first film with Gyllenhaal, a remake of Susanne Bier's Danish film Brothers. "I've been friends with Jake a really long time, so that was really exciting," she says.

Yep me too!

Last Wednesday, I saw the original Danish Susanna Blier movie 'Brodre' on one of the Belgian channels.
I so badly wanted to see what kind of character Jake had to play.
Oh boy, was I really disappointed.

I expected that Jannik person to be a real lover boy with plenty of charisma. Nope, nothing of it.
The movie wasn't bad at all... even the cast was good. But the story alas was more about the brother Michael who goes to Afghanistan, who is taken prisoner, and comes back to his family, broken.... then about the other brother Jannik, who stays at home and tries to help his brother's wife and kids. Maybe we'll see a totally different story in the American sequel, cuz the Danish Jannik here was rather dull.
No offense Danish members! I'm only afraid that Jake's part in Brother won't give him the necessary boost. Especially after his two previous, and less successful movies.

I do hope with all my heart that his sparkling blue eyes , and above all his excellent acting skills , will make this movie still interesting enough to watch.

In the meantime... let's keep our fingers crossed!

Oh, Sheilah, like you I hope that the American version of this film will expand Jake's character into someone more interesting and dominant in the story. From the original outline, I gathered that this was a love triangle, with equal attention to both men. I'lll be disappointed if that's not the case.

But after all, the title of this movie is Brothers, so it has to look at both men. However, Tobey Maguire is, at present, the biggest name in the cast, so it seems logical that his would be the leading, and largest, role. I don't particularly want to watch war scenes and prison torture. Brothers is scheduled for early December release, suggesting that the studio wants to get it into Oscar/Academy Award contention. The producers must have big hopes for this film.

I am starting to feel uneasy about Jake's career in the sense that he may not be getting the roles he should have. Next he's doing this Prince of Persia thing. If it flops, he'll have to really struggle to keep moving up. If it succeeds, he'll be way over the moon in popularity and earning power, but what's the artistic value? I have such unhappy feelings about Nailed. It seems like an ill-fated project. Will it ever even open in theaters? Or go straight to video, like Highway?

Actually all the awards prediction sites have Jake as leading and Tobey as supporting.

In the script their scenes are evenly divided.

I'm not sure if that helps.

Sheilah i read what you said how you saw the Original Version of Brothers!...well i felt the same way When i saw when i was YOUNG the Original "Point Of no Return" With Bridget Fonda...then i rented the real story line ( french , and annoying reading of subtitles) of it called "La Femme Nikita"
I hated the French one and It was also the first! The story line was the same but the action was Way different and more romantic in the American version of it...So i have all the faith in the world Brothers will be more romantic as you said the original wasn't!
Just like the Original "Bird Cage" was horrible then Robin Williams was brilliant in the remake! I think the American films make them more pleasing! But also mind you If it isn't different , then its not Jake fault its the Writers Guild for The strike was on at the time of brothers and Natalie did say that the director wasn't aloud to Change any thing for he was part of the writers Guild!

we just have to have faith ...specialy in the NAiled thing!!!
