Oh good, it's mentioned somewhere!
It certainly has some competition for this year, and it says the date has been moved to Christmas?

Something else that strikes me strangely. A day or so ago the original movie of Brothers, made in 2004, was showing on the IFC channel, which I don't get, so I couldn't watch it. It was listed in TV Guide, which gave it 4 stars, their highest rating. The only cast member named was Connie Nielsen. I've seen her in other films (like The Devil's Advocate), and I thought she was American, but maybe she's Swedish, since the original movie is Swedish, I think.

Connie Nielsen is Danish, and so is the original movie. And it's VERY good!

Brothers (Drama): Tobey Maguire comforts sister-in-law (Natalie Portman) after his brother (Jake Gyllenhaal) goes missing in Afghanistan.

http://news.guelphmercury.com/arts/article/379363

But they've got the casting backward. Tobey plays the brother in Afghanistan, and Jake is the brother-in-law doing the comforting. At least that's how it's been described earlier and elsewhere. Jake has described his character as having been in jail, and that's the brother who stays home with the wife. The only picture from the Brothers set is of Jake with a tattoo on his neck, which the character gets while in jail.

So far as we know, this Brothers isn't being released in 2008 as originally announced.

Yes. IFC = Independent Film Channel. It's part of the "cable" network, and you have to pay for it. Usually, cable access comes in bundles or batches of stations that you pay a flat fee for. This particular channel is not included in the service I pay for. Too bad, because it shows some wonderful films that I would love to watch. But my cable TV bill is already too high, and I can't afford it.

Here is a link to a reliable, serious side:

http://www.film-releases.com/

"Brothers" is on their list with:
Rest of 2008 films (no specific date of release)

Means there is no official release date yet.

Check the other films opening in December -especially those with awards chances - they have already released pictures, teasers, trailers, articles.

Brothers is supposed to be coming out in three months and there is not even one official picture out.

I notice there's another film announced for December release called The Brothers Bloom. This may seem farfetched, but could it be that the producers of Brothers are holding off because they fear the two films might get confused, or Brothers be overlooked because people think there's basically only one film?

IMDB says that it's still in post-production.

Some news from a Natalie Portman side

http://www.natalieportman.com/npcom.php?page_number=149&newsid=2519

"We all believed that Brothers would be released on December 4th, as that's what the IMDB was going with. But I noticed that they were pretty much the only ones that had any date for the film. So I did a bit of digging and last week was told that a release date hasn't been finalized yet. The date was going to be finalized this week but as of now its still up in the air."

Thats what I expected for some time now - there is no official release date yet.

Man, I was looking forward to a new Jake movie!! Oh well. The article was right when they said that they couldn't promote the movie without Jake!! I declare that a movie premiere w/o him is not a movie premier at all!!! Muahahaha!!!

More depressing news (as if I haven't had enough this wk.). I see their point about Jake not being able to be there and all, but I'm just very disappointed.
