The trailer looks very intense.

I am happy that they are focussing on the characters and their development.

I also like the music - especially "Bad" by U2.

Lets hope they will bring the film to one of the Film Festvals - creating some buzz!

It would be so awesome if Jake got a Best Actor nod! Or supporting again, depending on how much screentime he gets in comparison to Tobey. I hope it's a hit for Jake, he deserves it!

Wow, I've been thinking the same thing. Right now, Tobey Maguire is the bigger name in this film, and I've imagined how awkward it could get if one of these guys got nominated for something and the other didn't--and then maybe won, to boot. Tobey looks pretty good in the trailer too, and I get the impression that the story gives equal measure to all three characters/actors. Would the two guys be considered leads or supporting actors? It's a mystery to me.

Brothers poster:

Evie: It's always a mystery to me how they nominate actors and for which categories. Like for example in 2005 when Heath got Best Actor and Jake got Best Supporting Actor, I thought it was strange because they seemed like equal leads to me. But I think it was because Heath got a little more screen time and in general because it's better to nominate one particular actor in Best Actor and one in Supporting Actor so there isn't any competition between cast mates and each cast member has a shot at winning. I have a feeling if the movie gets any nominations, Tobey will get Best Actor since it seems like the juicier role, and Jake will get Best Supporting again. It also depends on who gets more buzz/acclaim. I just hope Jake gets recognized!

Cinematical has the poster:

http://www.cinematical.com/2009/07/10/exclusive-brothers-poster-premiere/

"I also like how the poster cuts off a quarter of Portman's body, as if that's the part that now belongs to her husband's brother. It's subtle and well done."

I agree with this statement and I have to say that I am really surprised (in a good way) - someone was spot-on....

The poster is intelligent and artistic and certainly captures the heart of the situation, and what more could you ask? Nevertheless, I have mixed feelings about it. Maybe it's a little too subtle, or complex, for a movie poster. I wonder if someone who doesn't already know the story will get what it's saying. The split in the middle of the image almost looks like a printing mistake.
