Tobey received a Golden Globe nomination today for Best Actor in a Drama. Unfortunately Jake was not nominated.

Maybe they're saving him for the Academy Awards.

We wish. I'm afraid, though, this won't be Jake's year for any of these prestigious film awards. His performance in Brothers is lovely, but it's Tobey's movie, and the film on the whole has not gotten strong reviews, though some critics liked it.

On a related note, Maggie and Jeff Bridges were interviewed together on Tavis Smiley (PBS) last night. They star opposite each other in Crazy Heart, and I see that Jeff Bridges has received a Golden Globe nomination for his role. Maggie hasn't, but that might not rule out an Academy Award nomination. But I guess that's a long shot too.

I'm not too sure about the Academy Awards for Tobey or Jake. Usually awards shows don't like remakes, which Brothers is. There have been some remakes that have been nominated and won in the past, but I'm not holding my breath for this.

It would be nice if they do receive Oscar nominations because even though it is a remake, that doesn't take away from the hard work they did making the film. They do deserve it.

I saw brothers yesterday. My partner and I left the theater with much satisfaction. Wow, what a movie! The story could really happen and that makes the film even more reliable. The scenes in Afghanistan were limited and that was a wise decision of the filmmakers.

No leading actor in this film, hubby said. I agree. All three actors had an equal share and were equal important. Their performances were very, very convincing. And so was the performance of Bailee Madisons. She did a great job. We will hear from her in the future, that's for sure.

I saw the Danish Br¿dre one year agoÉ. and now Brothers. Although both versions are very good.. I think the American version is more credible. And let's face it, for those who have seen the Danish filmÉ Jake is much more sexier and attractive than the Danish actor who played Jannik (Tommy). I know,É I'm partial.

If Tobey alone receives an Oscar nomination, and Jake and Nathalie notÉ well, then for me it's not fair. But ehÉ. nothing's fair anymore. Look what BBM mist a few year ago . A remake has little chance of winning any award, JSrocks said. That's also true.
Zodiac and Rendition had no success. And that proves that choices and preferences have changed over the years. Let's hope PoP and Jake will have more success this time.

This saidÉ Brothers will be another movie I will gladly add to my video collection.
Thanks Jake

For the Golden Globes : only Tobey is nominated, and the song 'Winter' by U2.

For the 82nd Academy Awards, which is in March this year, the official website is coming soon.

I quite enjoyed this film. I thought it was miles better and more interesting than Zodiac.
Sometimes Jake chooses films that are quite deep and have too much of a story to keep you interested for the length of the film. But Brothers was a pleasure to watch. I reckon it's one of his better ones.
