PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME (2010)
« Thread started on: May 20th, 2008, 5:02pm »

Disney has confirmed that Jake will be "our" Prince Dastan, so we should get a new thread....

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117986171.html?categoryid=13

"Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina, a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. "

Usually not a fan of those blockbusters, I have to admit that this one is exciting....

I agree, this should definitely have it's own thread after the confirmation. This is such amazing news!

I'm realy excited about this . I'm glad Jakey is taking on a project that is completely different.
These types of blockbuster-to-be films can be a bit icky ...I hope this one turns out to be a good one. Although the last movie that Mike Newell directed (Harry Potter 4) didn't realy impress me

Im not sure....the movie is a blockbuster so it could be great for his career like, let's say Matt Damon for the Bourne series. But if the movie fails, it can be hard.

It's all about the screenplay in my opinion.

Mike Newell.....so-so, he has done some crap, but i love Donnie Brasco, and in my opinion, the fourth installment of Harry Potter is better than the last one.

P.S. Gemma Artenton is his co-star. She is pretty new but is also the next Bond Girl

I think it's great, as well as the cast and crew involved in this film.
After this movie, probably more people will know him and i read a rumor he'll earn 40 millions for it (all 3 parts).

The movie has the potential to be good and make Jake a big star!

All fans are crossing their fingers!

Hmm, I'm stoked to see Jake as the Prince...but I loved the videogames so much and I would hate to see them change it drastically (why the name change for the girl? what's wrong with Farah?)

This could be really good though, so we'll just have to wait and see.

And really, who can say no to Jake looking like this?

Now I'm off to replay the games in honor of this news, lol.

I'm not excited about this choice. I'll watch it anyway but... I don't get you, Gyllenhaal.

lol, how come? I'm into everything (wether is a drama/action/sci-fi film or just something different), if it's a great production you know i'm there (the same goes for music, art, fashion etc). I'm sure this is going to be a great movie (we're talking about Disney, they take their craft seriously and won't release anything less than stellar).

Several million miles beyond excited about this - it's not my type of film, but I'm stoked to see Jake finally get a possible franchise movie - should propel him right up to A++++ list, but mainly because it means Jake will be in London this summer for an extended period of time

This film and franchise works, not only will it introduce a lot of people to Jake but it will leave him free to do the lower budget, independent stuff - his name will be enought to get backing - Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Robert Downey Jnr have all done the same thing - massive, big budget blockbusters, whilst still retaining their acting integrity and doing the more 'meaningful' stuff.

This, potentially, is an increadibly smart move by Jake.

I really hope this movie will be a succes, Jake deserves it and it's that time in his career to make this kind of step ! Did he signed for the whole trilogy ? It's logical, but did he ? Or, at least, will Disney make 3 movies ? I don't play games at all (as in PC....) so I don't know anything about PoP - but I wouldn't held my breath to see much of "naked" Jake ! (as much as I wish for, I'm not hypocrite ! )
Anyway, it's a thrilling news, cannot wait to see the movie !
